PaaS – Platform as a Service

Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a type of cloud computing services that delivers a computing platform and a solution stack as a service.

In this model, the user creates the software using tools and libraries from the cloud computing provider.

The user also controls software deployment and configuration settings.

The cloud computing provider provides the networks, servers, storage and other services.

PaaS offerings facilitate the deployment of applications without the high cost and complexity of managing the underlying hardware, software and provisioning hosting capabilities.

There are many PaaS vendor and suppliers; however, all offer application hosting and a deployment environment, in addition to integrated services.

PaaS services offer varying levels of scalability and maintenance.
PaaS offerings may also include facilities for application design, application development, and testing.

Some of the examples of Paas offerings can include specialised services such as accountancy, legal, estate agencies, banking, investments, even the latest software for creating a website such as website builders would use such a platform. Most of the services we may use on a daily basis would be based on PaaS
